Favorite Healthy Food Blogs

I love to cook but I don’t always have the inspiration to just whip something up. For the past year I’ve gotten in the habit of selecting my recipes for the week before heading to the store. This has not only cut down on my number of trips to the store but on money spent, ingredients gone to waste and frustrated hangry moments of not knowing what to cook. It has also helped me be better about packing my lunch for work and making enough to have leftovers to re-heat on days when my schedule is too hectic to cook. This practice has been essential for me to maintain a healthy, vegetable heavy, whole foods based diet. So I thought I would share my favorite, go-to, tried and true, read every post, cook from regularly, healthy food blogs.

1. Sprouted Kitchen

Sara has a way of taking the simplest ingredients and turning them into something extraordinary. Her recipes are often quick or easy, vegetables-first and always, always delicious.

2. The First Mess

Laura’s recipes can be a bit more involved. Whether a longer list of ingredients or new techniques but she’ll push you outside of your comfort zone in the best of ways. I love her series on healthy superfood drinks and the way she manages to include booster foods in nearly every dish.

3. Dolly and Oatmeal

Since, like me, Lindsey is gluten and dairy free her site is my go-to for desserts. Although she has equally appealing vegetable heavy mains and sides and is never short on creative flavor combinations.

4. Cookie and Kate

Kathryne has every kind of recipe on her site, including simple, delicious cocktails. She puts together helpful season food guides month by month and offers a tool to help you meal plan.

5. Pinch of Yum

I turn to Lindsay when I need some comfort food. Her recipes are healthy yet feel indulgent. She has quite the recipe index so the meal possibilities are nearly endless.

6. Love and Lemons

Jeanine creates colorful, flavorful dishes. She can take a familiar recipe and make it completely new. And her mint chocolate chip coconut ice cream is my favorite.

7. Naturally Ella

Erin creates vegetarian dishes that are well rounded. Her blog has incredible educational tools. You can search recipes by ingredient, season, time, type and more. And she’ll teach you how to stock your pantry for healthy meals in a pinch.

I hope you take the time to explore these sites and test out a recipe or two from each. With so many great food blogs out there it was hard to choose just a few favorites. But these are the first that pop into my mind week after week when I need inspiration. What are your go-to healthy recipe sites?
